Basingstoke Town Colts Dragons 1 –9 Andover Town Youth u13’s Whites

ATY u13’s Whites travelled to Basingstoke Town Colt Dragons this weekend for their first away game of the season. The Whites started brightly with lots of possession and some good build up play, they had to wait until the 9th minute before the opening goal which from Ben Prior. The Colts were becoming very difficult to break down and had definitely got the advantage in midfield. Dropping deeper, the strike partnership of Ben Prior and Reece Anniss was called into action, with them combining 3 times before the break, Prior added his second of the game and Anniss bagged a brace.

The Whites came out of the blocks very slowly in the second half and were nearly made to pay within 5 minutes, failing to clear their lines on more than one occasion and then giving away a penalty, the resulting spot kick was not converted.

With the home side winning the battle in most areas, it was only a matter of time before the Colts scored and on 23 minutes that’s exactly what they did, playing a neat 1-2 around the Whites defence and making it look simple. This seemed to finally wake the Whites as they went on the rampage going close on several occasions before Dylan Willard coolly finished inside the box. Ben Prior then added 2 in 2 minutes to his tally, with Dylan Willard capping another fine display with the 8th goal.  There was still time just before the final whistle for Mark Hawkins to take the ball around the keeper and calmly slotted home for his first of the season..

This week’s MOTM was Reece Anniss and the Geezer Award went to Ben prior for his 4 goal haul.

Great support again from all the parents, siblings, grandparents and friends, it really helps us knowing you’re there.
