Social update – January 2015

Dear all,

Belatedly, here is the first Andover Town Youth FC social update email of 2015.  Even though we’re already a few weeks into it, I should probably begin by wishing you all a very happy New Year!

I don’t have a massive amount to tell you, so I’ll keep this fairly brief.  Regard it as a bit of heads up of what we’ve got planned for the first half of this year.  However, before I get into the social side of things, I do have one important message to pass on to you all:

Coaches needed!

As I’m sure you are all aware, Andover Town Youth FC has grown considerably over the last 12-18 months.  The number of players we have on our books has increased and subsequently we have more teams this year than we’ve had in recent years.  We’ve recruited a lot of additional coaches for the current season, but we anticipate that the Club is going to continue to grow and that we will have even more teams next season.  As such, we will need more coaches and that’s the purpose of this message.  If any of you have done any coaching before and would like to get back into it, please let us know.  If you’ve never done any coaching before, but believe it’s something you’d like to try your hand at, please let us know.  Ideally, we would like to have two coaches (or one coach and one manager) for every team and therefore any volunteers from our parental contingent would be greatly appreciated.  Our priority is to get some coaches in for our current Under 9 teams.  There will no cost involved for things like coaching courses and CRB checks (or DBS checks, as they’re now known), as these are paid for by the Club.  All we ask for in return is a bit of your time and dedication in order to ensure that our players are well looked after, well organised and, most importantly of all, that they have fun.  If you are interested, please contact either me, by replying to this email, or our Club Secretary, Garry Whittam, at secretary@andovertownyouthfc.co.uk.  Many thanks.

Diary dates

We have a few social events in the pipeline.  Details will emerge about each event as they get nearer, but it would be worth pencilling these dates into your calendars/diaries sooner rather than later, to ensure that you and your families are available to attend, if you’d like to:

Saturday 28th March – Duck Race Event:  Andover town centre (the part of the river that runs alongside Wilkinson’s)

Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th May – End of Season Presentation Nights:  Andover Leisure Centre

Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June – Summer 7-a-side Tournament and Festival of Football:  Walworth Sports Ground (TBC)

We have our next Social Committee meeting next Monday evening after which I’ll hopefully have further details on all of the above events.  I’ll aim to send my February email out a bit earlier in the month.

As this is the first social update email of the year, I should state that if any of you don’t wish to receive these monthly emails, please drop me a line to let me know and I’ll remove you from my distribution list.

Many regards

Dan Spencer
